We are very excited that you have agreed to have a chat with Mike Konrad about your experience in the electronic assembly industry.

Before we get to the interview, we ask that you take the time to read through the following instructions carefully. This will help things to not only run smoothly on the day, but also to help you sound your best. Just remember that we are here to help, so if you have any questions or have any issues, please contact us right away so that we help you find a solution.

We highly recommend you use a microphone for the interview. Virtually any USB microphone will work better than your computer’s built-in microphone. If an external USB microphone is not available, headphone/mics such as iPhone Earbuds or similar headphone-mic combinations will work (not as well as an external USB mic but much better than the computer’s built-in mic).

GETTING YOUR COMPUTER READY TO RECORD.

  1. Please make sure you have closed all unnecessary programs, these will use CPU resources and can cause issues with recording.

  2. If you are being interviewed from your home, do not have other devices downloading files, streaming movies, or otherwise consuming bandwidth as this may lower the available bandwidth required for a quality sound recording.

  3. Please turn off email and other notifications (silence your cell phone) for the duration of the interview.

  4. Plug in your microphone and headphones.

  5. Follow the recording link sent to you. The recording server only works with a Chrome browser – make sure your Chrome web browser is updated to the newest version available. If you are unsure on how to do this, please click one of the following links. This is very important as older versions of these browsers can effect sound quality.

Computer Requirements

  • Suitable Operating Systems:

    - Mac OS
    - Windows 8.1 or higher
    - Chrome Book

  • Browser:
    Fully updated version of Google Chrome

Click on the green “CONNECT” button in the invitation email. If Chrome is your default browser, you will be automatically instructed to copy the link into your Chrome browser.

Click the link provided in your email invite 5-10 mins prior to the scheduled time. If you can’t find it, don’t panic, shoot Mike a quick email at mike@mikekonrad.com and he will provide it again.

Once you see the recording interface, make sure application has the correct audio input. To do this, click the ‘Gear’ icon in the top right of the browser window and make sure the correct audio input is selected. Look for and select your Audio Input (microphone).

General Recording Tips:

  • Use headphones to avoid feedback.

  • Use a microphone to improve recording quality.

  • Turn off all notifications (email, phone, texts, etc).

  • Record in a quiet place. Everything the microphone records may become part of the podcast.

  • If you make a mistake, just inform your host. We do not broadcast live so relax, pause, and begin your thought again. No big deal.

  • Finally, have fun! Be yourself… funny, serious, snarky, whatever.
